Reduce speed. and shift to a lower gear befiyre you start down a long or stee p downgrade. If you don! shift down. you might have to use your brakes so much than they would get hot and no longer work well.

Parking on Hills

1'1"qu reallg,r ‘il‘lflllld. not park your vehicle. with a trailer attached. on a hill. lfsornething goes; wrong- your rig could start to move. People can be injured. and both your vehicle and the trailer can be damaged.

But if you ever have to park your rig on a hill. here‘s how to do It:

I. Apply your regular brakea. but don't shift into PARK [P] yet.

2. Have someone place chaoks under the trailer wheela.

3-. When the wheel {3'10ij are in place. release the: regular bmkEt'. Until the chock?» absorb the load.

4-. lileatpllzll}r the regular brakes. Then applyr your parking

brake. and then shift to PARK {Pt 5. Release the regular brakes.


lWhen You Are Ready to Leave After Parking on a Hill

1 . iltppl}.r your regular brakes and Itoltl. the pedal down while you:

I Start your engine: 'I Shift into a gear. and

I Release the parking brake.


Let up on the brake pedal. Drive Hitiwly until the trailer is elem' oftlie chucks.

Stop and have someone pick up and store the shocks.
